Padmaavat Box-Office Collection Day 1: Despite Karni Sena Obstacles, Shahid-Deepika-Ranveer's Magnum Opus Runs Away To Glory With Rs 19 Crore
Here are the collections of Day 1 of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Padmaavat.
Amidst protests in various
cities staged by the Karni Sena against Padmaavat, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's
grand spectacle with a soul has opened to heartwarming numbers...
Despite non-screening in few states and protests/disturbances, #Padmaavat fares VERY WELL on Day 1... Had it been a peaceful/smooth all-India release, the biz would’ve touched ₹ 28 / ₹ 30 cr... Wed [limited preview screenings] 5 cr, Thu 19 cr. Total: ₹ 24 cr. India biz.

#Padmaavat is ROCKING today [26 Jan 2018; holiday]... Sat and Sun also expected to be HUGE.

The Shahid Kapoor-Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh
starrer has been in the news ever since it went on floors. The Karni Sena has
been the prime group who have been vehemently opposing it, so much so that
their vandalism also resulted in Bhansali getting slapped by their members
during one of his shooting schedules.Few state governments (Rajasthan, MP,
Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana) jumped in to throw spanners,
but the intervention of the Supreme Court seeked by Bhansali and Viacom 18
(co-producer) enabled it to finally see the light of day.
It opened on a very slow note yesterday
(backlink), but later picked up towards the evening (backlink). The Rs
crore number would have been considerably more if no fear psychosis had
engulfed the people in the earlier part of the day.
The film has also received fairly good reviews
from most sections of the media. For those who've come in late, SpotboyE.com
Editor Vickey Lalwani gave it a 4-star rating (backlink).
There is no reason now why the numbers shouldn't
swell up on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
And we certainly don't know what the Karni Sena
achieved in disrupting the law and order. The eerie silence of the CMs of the
opposing states is equally inexplicable.
Goes without saying that we shall keep you
abreast with the Day 2 collections tomorrow. Stay tuned to SpotboyE.com for all the truth and
spice in the world of cinema and television.
